old fashioned apple crisp


Ingredients:
5 cups McIntosh or Cortland apples, peeled and sliced
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
3/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
 
 directions :
Pre heat the oven to 375 degrees.
Mix together the apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and the 1/4 cup white sugar and mix well.
Place the apple mixture in a 8x8 baking dish.
Using a pasty blender or your Kitchen Aid Mixer with the paddle attachment,mix and combine the 1 cup flour, 3/4 cup old fashioned oats, cold butter, salt and 1/4 cup of brown sugar until it resembles course meal, or pea sized crumbles.
Evenly spread the crumble mixture on top of the apples.
Bake for 55- 60 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples are bubbly.
Serve warm with french vanilla ice cream.
Serves 7 to 8.
